Pfeiffer State Park, Big Sur
My wife was getting restless. Little did she know, I was even more restless. We hadn’t been camping in a long time! Growing up here in Southern California, my parents always took me and my brothers camping. From Carlsbad State Beach to Yosemite National Park, Mom and Dad always made sure to take trips as an opportunity to teach us boys lessons about hard work, protecting our families, and facing the unknown (usually involving our car breaking down on the way to Yosemite).
That being said, I realized that now that Corey and I were married, it was up to us to plan these things. All the unknown details about a place we’ve never been are no longer an excuse to not start researching for a campsite and heading out. Fortunately, my wife has a talent for travel preparations and one day she asked me when we could start planning our next camping trip. I was ecstatic and we both sat down to start planning.
Big Sur was a place i’ve only seen pictures of. It was only a half day drive up our beautiful California coast. After booking our site, researching some stops along the way, and planning a loose agenda for out two night stay, we were off.
“It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to.” - Bilbo Baggins
Of course we had a few car freak outs (maybe breaking down on a camping trip is inevitable), but it was nothing bad after all. We stopped at a solid cafe in Santa Barbara for brunch (Savoy) on the way and finally made it for sunset at Pfeiffer Beach! I’ll let the photos speak for themselves. It was two days of grand views, quiet peaceful camping next to the creek, and some of the best laughs with my best friend. If you’ve ever been restless, I’d say that a little adventure is always good for the unsettled soul.
Enjoy the photos!
